Cape Lookout Announces New Chief of Maintenance

Harkers Island, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore is pleased to announce that Michael Baker has been selected as the new Chief of Maintenance. Mr. Baker will arrive at Cape Lookout National Seashore on Nov. 2, 2011.

Mr. Baker brings many years of experience working in a variety of capacities for the National Park Service, and at a variety of parks, including: Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.

Mr. Baker has both supervisory and management experience in buildings, utilities and grounds trades. He has overseen a variety construction projects from new housing and buildings projects, to utility upgrades, recreational rehabilitation, and marina and dock construction. He has successfully managed large to medium sized National Park Service maintenance organizations working in nearly all the trades, and he has worked with multiple agencies and many volunteer organizations. Superintendent Pat Kenney noted that"Mr. Baker's experience is demonstrated by a strong professional work ethic that is focused on a commitment to safety and teamwork."
