HONOLULU - This week the National Park Service Getaway travels to Hawaii, to the site that marked the end of life for 2,390 Americans and the beginning of World War II for this nation.
World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument preserves and shares incredible stories of the Pacific War, including the events at Pearl Harbor, the internment of Japanese Americans, the battles in the Aleutians and the occupation of Japan. The monument comprises nine historic and commemorative sites in Hawaii, Alaska and California.
This Memorial Day, May 28, WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument will pay tribute to all who gave their lives in service to this country. Throughout the weekend, from May 25 through May 28, the monument will host several events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the USS Arizona Memorial and honoring the sacrifices made by extraordinary men and women.
