31st Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach - Sunday, September 2, 2012

Point Reyes National Seashore invites you to join the 31st annual Sand Sculpture Contest. We welcome all ages at this free community event located at Drakes Beach. Categories include: Children (14 and under), Families, Adult Individuals, and Adult Groups. Three prizes will be awarded in each of those categories along with prizes for: the sculpture with the most recycled plastic included; the Maggie Johnston Award for Creative Excellence; and the People's Choice Award! This event is family based, but please remember no dogs are allowed on this designated swimming beach (no lifeguard on duty). Local celebrity judges include Bonny White, Marin County Librarian who will make the call on creativity and originality. Bring a picnic and spend the day!

9 am - Registration begins at the Ken Patrick Visitor Center

12 noon - Judging begins

3:30 pm - Prizes awarded
