MILITARY HONORED BY LAKE MEAD NRA ON VETERANS DAY

BOULDER CITY, NEV. - The National Park Service handed out 25 Interagency Annual Military Passes to service members and shared information about Southern Nevada's federal lands to more than 200 visitors at the 2012 Aviation Nation at Nellis Air Force Base Veterans Day.

The Southern Nevada Agency Partnership set up a booth Nov. 11 to educate the public about federal lands and to provide free passes to area military.

The military passes, which mirror the benefits of the Interagency Annual Pass valued at $80, provide service members and occupants of a single, non-commercial vehicle (or pass holder and three persons where per person fees are charged), with free access to all 398 national parks, including the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Bureau of Land Management's Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Free Military Passes are available year-round at any entrance station or the visitors center at the park headquarters at 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City. Active duty service members simply need to show a Common Access Card or official DD form 1173 ID card to receive their annual pass.
