Death Valley, CA-Historic Scotty’s Castle Reopens Thursday, May 30th after a fire burned 15 acres of vegetation north of the Castle. Scotty’s Castle is a Spanish style mansion built in the 1930s that hosts daily living history tours. Tours will resume in the morning of the 30th for on-site visitors and reservation holders.
Crews from the Bureau of Land Management and the U. S. Forest Service assisted a National Park Service initial attack crew who responded on Tuesday, May 22nd. The fire was contained on Thursday May 23rd. No injuries occurred and only minor damage to one outbuilding on the Castle grounds was sustained during the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
