Seneca Falls, NY-- Women's Rights National Historical Park is pleased to announce that Noemi "Ami" Ghazala, a twelve-year veteran of the National Park Service, has been selected as the park's Acting Superintendent.Former Superintendent Tammy Duchesne has transferred to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park in Hawai'i.
Ghazala's NPS journey began at the Statue of Liberty National Monument/Ellis Island Immigration Museum where she spotlighted the forgotten stories of "The Island of Hope/The Island of Tears". In 2008, she transferred to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. As Education Coordinator and later District Supervisor, she focused efforts on partnering with local schools to bring urban children to their local national park, working closely with low-performing schools and communities-of-color.
In 2010, Ghazala was promoted to Chief of Education and Resource Management at Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park where she worked closely with park partners and was instrumental in reaching out to local universities to provide meaningful internships that benefited both students and the park. In 2012, Ghazala became the Chief of Interpretation and Education at Women's Rights National Historical Park.
A native of New York City, Ghazala stated, "I am humbled and honored to take on a leadership role at Women's Rights National Historical Park.The park offers exceptional opportunities to highlight national and global issues that are relevant today."
