There have been 5 wildfires in Noatak NP so far this year; Sandy Ridge is a new wildfire and the Kavachurak Fire has been called out. This is an area prone to thunderstorms, lightning, and wildfire this time of year.

(New)Sandy Ridge Fire- ref#353 • Located 72 miles north northeast of Kobuk • 2 acres • Lightning-ignited on June 23, 2013 • The fire was discovered on a surveillance flight. No activity seen placed in monitor status.

Howard Pass Fire - ref#353 • Located 86 miles north northeast of Kobuk •.5 acres • Lightning-ignited on June 22, 2013 • Flown on 6/23/2013 no activity seen

Imelyak River Fire - ref#352 • Located 60 miles north northeast of Kobuk • 172.3 acres • Lightning-ignited on June 22, 2013 • Flown on 6/23/2013 no activity seen

Kavachurak #2 - ref# 333 • Located 65 miles north of Kobuk • 90 acres • Lightning-ignited on June 20, 2013 • Flown on 6/23/2013 no activity seen

Kavachurak Fire - ref#313 • Located 68 miles north of Kobuk • 908 acres • Lightning-ignited on June 20,2013 • Called out June 24 2013
