VANCOUVER, WA - The National Park Service at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is pleased to announce National Junior Ranger Day, Saturday, April 26, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
The program is free and takes place at Pearson Air Museum, an early center of Pacific Northwest aviation history managed by the National Park Service (NPS).
National Junior Ranger Day is a celebration across the nation that encourages families to come out to national parks and explore America's treasures. Throughout the nation, aspiring Junior Rangers will complete a series of activities and tasks to earn their own Junior Ranger Badge.
At Fort Vancouver NHS's Pearson Air Museum, activities for prospective Junior Rangers will include a basic aeronautics course, educational and historical videos, toy aircraft construction and flight, and perhaps a little insight into the typical day of a National Park Service Ranger. They will be led by NPS Park Guide Jim Patterson, a retired Navy Avionics Technician Chief Petty Officer.
The event is free of charge and open to all age groups and family members. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The museum is located at 1115 E. Fifth Street in Vancouver, Washington.
