A beach hazards statement for rip currents has been issued for areas along the coast including Point Reyes National Seashore. In particular, west and northwest facing beaches at Point Reyes National Seashore such as Point Reyes Beach South, Point Reyes Beach North, Kehoe Beach, and McClures Beach. These conditions will be in effect until Tuesday night.
A beach hazard statement for sneaker waves means that conditions are present to support a heightened risk of unsuspecting beach goers being swept into the ocean by a wave. People walking along the beach should never turn their back to the ocean. Fisherman should avoid fishing from rocks or jetties. Swimmers caught in rip currents should swim parallel to the coast to escape the rip current before trying to swim for shore. Swimmers should always swim near a lifeguard.
Be sure to always have your eyes on the ocean.
