Seashore's Hatteras Island Visitor Center Temporarily Closed for Repairs

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Nov. 17, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

The Hatteras Island Visitor Center and Bookstore at the Cape Hatteras Light Station, located in Buxton, NC and approximately 48 miles south of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore's northern entrance, will be closed beginning Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 through Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 for needed cleaning and repairs.The Museum of the Sea will be open to the visiting public on Thursday, November 20 -Sunday, November 23.

During the week of November 16 -22, NPS contractors will be on-site and within the office building performing necessary cleaning operations as well as repairs to the mechanical HVAC system for the facility.The Visitor Center and Bookstore will be closed to the public during this time.The public restrooms and ORV permit offices remain open.The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse closed on schedule to climbing October 13 for the season.
