GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE, Alaska - The National Park Service has released a prospectus soliciting proposals for tour vessel operation in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Multiple tour vessel concession contracts are expected to be awarded to provide tour vessel and related services.
Tour vessels offer a way for large and diverse groups of visitors to experience Glacier Bay National Park. Tour vessels are defined as any motor vessel of less than 100 tons gross (U.S. System) or 2,000 tons gross (International Convention System) engaged in transport of passengers for hire and certificated to carry more than 12 passengers overnight or more than 49 passengers for daytime use.
Tour vessel services are currently provided by Lindblad Special Expeditions, American Safari Cruises, LLC, Alaskan Catamaran, LLC and American Cruise Lines, Inc. The current contracts expire Dec. 31, 2015. The new contracts will have a 5-year term and commence in 2016.
Proposals for this opportunity must be received by April 22, 2015.
