Beach Hazard Statement Issued for Point Reyes National Seashore from February 12 through February 14, 2014

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 11, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

A beach hazard statement has been issued by the National Weather Service and remains in effect from Thursday morning, February 12 through Saturday afternoon, February 14.

In particular, west-facing beaches such as Kehoe Beach, Abbotts Lagoon Beach, Point Reyes Beach North and Point Reyes Beach South can be especially dangerous.

There will be an increased chance of rip currents and sneaker waves which can knock people down and pull them out into the ocean.

Be sure to always keep your eyes on the ocean and use extra precaution when with children or, where allowed, pets on leash.
