National Park Service Issues FONSI for Improvements to Gorge Creek Trail

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 9, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

The National Park Service (NPS) announces the availability of the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Gorge Creek Environmental Assessment. The NPS chose the action alternative to improve and reroute sections or the Gorge Creek Trail, which is located south of the Eielson Visitor Center (EVC) at Mile 66 on the Denali Park Road. The NPS will replace the braided network of social trails below EVC with a formal hiking trail to create a safer and more sustainable route to the Gorge Creek gravel bar. Redundant trails in the area will be abandoned and revegetated.

This FONSI is available for review online
