Starting on June 1, 2015, Capitol Reef National Park will increase entrance fees and camping fees for visitors in order to fund important maintenance and improvement projects within the park.
Capitol Reef National Park's new fee structure will be implemented starting Monday, June 1, 2015 and includes the following:
* 7-day single vehicle entrance fee (for Scenic Drive) from $5.00 to $10.00. Per person rate from $3.00 to $7.00. The park only charges an entrance fee for travel on the Scenic Drive past the campground.
* Per motorcycle fee from $5.00 to $10.00.
* Nightly campsite at Fruita Campground from $10.00 to $20.00.
* Capitol Reef specific annual pass will be $30.00. This new pass allows for a single, private, non-commercial vehicle or individual for a year from the date of purchase.
"This modest increase in fees will allow us to continue to protect, preserve, and share the special places here at Capitol Reef with current visitors and future generations," said Capitol Reef Superintendent Leah McGinnis. "After carefully considering the impact of a fee increase on visitors and community members, we came to the conclusion that this is the right course of action to improve facilities and services important to visitors. We are thankful to the local community for providing comments and supporting this fee structure."
Entrance fees have supported a wide range of projects that improve the park and visitor experience, including rehabilitating trails and trailhead signs, developing and installing exhibits in visitor centers, improving park water systems, providing ranger-led programs, and improving ADA accessibility. In the fall of 2014, the National Park Service conducted a nationwide review of entrance fees. To solicit public input, Capitol Reef launched a civic engagement campaign in December 2014.
