Caribou Creek & Viking Lodge Public Use Cabins Temporarily Closed

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 15, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Due to continued bear activity at both the Viking Lodge and the Caribou Creek Public Use Cabins along the Nabesna Road, the cabins are closed to public use effective immediately.

Both cabins have been broken into and entered by a bear(s) in the last two days. The cabins will temporarily be closed and barricaded in order to protect public safety and the facilities.

Visitors should contact the Slana Ranger Station at 907-822-7401 for the latest information regarding the closure

Closure per 36 CFR 13.50(h).
