The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for large surf and sneaker waves, which is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday afternoon.
In particular, west to northwest facing beaches such as McClures, Kehoe, Point Reyes Beach North, and Point Reyes Beach South could be affected by this dangerous wave activity.
A beach hazard statement means that potentially dangerous conditions may exist on specific beaches. These hazards could include strong rip currents and sneaker waves. Strong rip currents can quickly pull swimmers into deep water. People walking along the beach should never turn their back to the ocean. Fisherman should avoid fishing from rocks or jetties. Swimmers should always swim near a lifeguard.
