High Surf Advisory for Point Reyes National Seashore in effect from 3 pm Monday, March 21, through 9 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2016

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 21, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the Point Reyes National Seashore from 3 pm today through 9 pm tomorrow.

The largest waves will begin to move into the surf zone later this afternoon. In particular, west facing beaches such as McClures Beach, Kehoe Beach, Point Reyes Beach North, and Point Reyes Beach South could be affected by this dangerous wave activity.

These large waves can be erratic and unpredictable so use caution near the surf zone since these waves can sweep people into the cold and rough sea. There may also be strong rip currents associated with these waves.

For additional safety tips, visit our website at https://www.nps.gov/pore/planyourvisit/beaches.htm#beachsafety.

Be sure to always have your eyes on the ocean.
