Tropical Depression 8 Closures at Cape Lookout National Seashore (Advisory 1)

Harkers Island, NC -Based on current weather models, the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Cape Lookout National Seashore to Oregon Inlet through Wednesday. Dangerous rip currents and the possibility of tropical storm force winds are forecast for Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse will be closed for day climbing and Island Express Ferry Service will cease operations out of Beaufort and Harkers Island.

The National Park Service staff will be monitoring ongoing developments with Tropical Depression 8 and will post updates as needed on the park website at www.nps.gov/calo and via Facebook and Twitter at twitter.com/CapeLookoutNPS.
