Ranger Program: Coyotes: What You Should Know, Sept 10
Join a ranger at the Boulder Beach Amphitheater 4 p.m. Sept. 10 to learn more about the wily and opportunistic coyote. Find out why visitors should observe coyotes from a distance during their visits to the park. Call 702-293-8990, for more information.
Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert: A Magical Land, Sept 10 and 11
Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Sept. 10 and 11 at 11:30 and 1 p.m. to learn about the plants that call this vibrant desert home. Lecture Series: Conserving America's National Parks, Sept 14
Scott Abella, assistant professor, School of Life Sciences, UNLV will be hosting a free talk at the UNLV Barrick Natural History Museum at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14. Ranger Event: Recovery in the Park, Sept 17
Visit the National Park Service booth Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Bullhead City Community Park under the ramada for the seventh annual Recovery in the Park event in Bullhead City, Arizona. Celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service and learn how you can "Find Your Park." Maps and information about Lake Mead National Recreation Area will be available. Park Event: National Public Lands Day, Sept 24
Lake Mead National Recreation Area is hosting a litter cleanup for National Public Lands Day. Volunteers are needed to clean up an area of the park that was heavily used during the summer by visitors. National Public Land Day vouchers will be provided to the first 100 volunteers who register. Park Event: National Public Lands Day, Sept 24
Join rangers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at Pyramid Canyon, Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trails, in Laughlin, Nevada, for hikes, arts and crafts, fishing, and a treasure hunt. Junior ranger booklets will be available for distribution. A ranger-led birding walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. along the Colorado River and visitors can discover how many bird species call the river home. A ranger-led interactive talk about the local history of the Colorado River and the construction of the Davis Dam will begin at 11:30 a.m. Call 928-754-3272, for more information.
Fee Free Day Sept 24
Entrance fees will be waived at Lake Mead National Recreation Area Sept. 24 in celebration of the National Public Lands Day. Fees for camping, lake use or use of concessions still apply.
Ranger Program: Starry, Starry Night Hike, Sept 24
Join ranger and learn about the dark night skies of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Explore the Historic Railroad Trail tunnels during a stroll along this old railroad bed. For more information and to register, call 702-293-8990.

BBSC Las Vegas Triathlon, Oct 1
Around 600 triathletes will race though Lake Mead National Recreation Area Oct. 1 for the BBSC Las Vegas Triathlon. The race has four triathlon distance options available, Olympic, sprint, duathlon and half distance. The swim portion of the race takes place at Boulder Beach. Then, athletes will bike along Lakeshore Road and Northshore Road before transitioning onto the River Mountains Loop Trail at the Historic Railroad Trail parking lot. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays. During the race, the bicycle course in Lake Mead National Recreation Area is an open road. Please use caution when driving alongside cyclists. Share the road, and do not pass in no passing zones. Cyclists are reminded that they must bike in single file on the roadways. Cycling abreast is not permitted within the park. Tule Springs Fossil Beds Cleanup, Oct 1
In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument will conduct a clean-up celebration Oct. 1. Volunteers are needed to pick up debris and trash within the park. In addition, The Protectors of Tule Springs will conduct a hike within the park. The hike begins at 8 a.m. and is optional. The cleanup begins at 9 a.m. and ends at around noon.
