SPRINGFIELD, IL: Lincoln Home National Historic Site invites the public to attend the George L. Painter Looking for Lincoln Lectures on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site Visitor Center, 426 South Seventh Street, Springfield, Illinois. The Visitor Center will open one half hour early, at 8:00 a.m.
Lincoln Home National Historic Site is pleased to present this annual lecture series in partnership with the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area. Together, Lincoln Home NHS and “Looking for Lincoln" present stories that focus on the central Illinois communities that Lincoln impacted or that impacted Lincoln.
Tom Martin, Chairman of the Mount Pulaski Courthouse Foundation in Mount Pulaski, Illinois, will present “Preserving the Mount Pulaski Courthouse." Wayne C. Temple, retired Chief Deputy Director of the Illinois State Archives will give a presentation based upon his forthcoming book Lincoln's Springfield/Pittsfield Connection- A tale of two Cities (Mayhaven, 2017). Bill Thomas, Economic Development Director of Logan County, Illinois, will present “Uncovering Connections: the Story of the 1875 Grand Old Style Barbeque on the Grounds of the Atlanta Union Agricultural Society."
In addition to the above mentioned presentations, the following authors will also be at the Eastern National book store for a book signing opportunity: Wayne C. Temple author of Abraham Lincoln: From Skeptic To Prophet, By Square & Compass: Saga of the Lincoln Home, Lincoln's Surgeons at His Assassination, and Lincoln's Springfield/Pittsfield Connection- A tale of two Cities; Glen Aubrey, author of Lincoln, Leadership and Gettysburg, Lessons of War, Lincoln’s Leadership, and Lincoln’s Advice for America in the 21st Century-His Words Still Speak; and, Dan Van Haften, author of The Ultimate Guide to the Gettysburg Address and Abraham Lincoln and the Structure of Reason.
