Denali to Burn Debris Pile in Park Entrance Area

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 30, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Fire Management staff at Denali National Park and Preserve will attempt to burn debris consisting of trees and brush between February 1-17, if weather conditions allow. The pile is located east of the park airstrip and west of the northernmost loop of the Riley Creek Campground.

The material being burned is from fuels management projects (fire protection) around park buildings and other park infrastructure. Smoke may be visible in the surrounding area from the Parks Highway and from aircraft.

NPS Fire Management staff will be monitoring the burning on site. The pile is expected to burn for three to four days.
