National Park Service Announces Improvements to Frisco Day Use Area

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 14, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Work will begin this week at the Frisco Day Use Area to replace the viewing platform and boardwalk that was severely damaged during Hurricane Matthew. A temporary sand pathway at the southern end of the parking lot will provide a pedestrian access path to the beach for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to be completed by May 2017.

Park visitors can expect to see fencing in the parking lot and on the beach side to identify the limits of construction. As construction crews work to safely replace the boardwalk, please use extreme caution while operating a vehicle adjacent to construction operations and pay close attention to all signage.
