National Get Outdoors Day Activities at Dunes Learning Center

INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: The Dunes Learning Center invites the public to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, June 10, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at their National Lakeshore campus. Get up close with nature or enjoy a quiet moment under the trees with guided hikes, science games, camp crafts, live music from School of Rock, and a picnic lunch on the lawn. Learn about the secret life of the Little Calumet River. Pull on a tree-climbing harness and ascend into the canopy. Bring your refillable water bottle to collect a Dunes Learning Center sticker! Event partners and sponsors include ArcelorMittal, BP, Enbridge, Friends of Indiana Dunes, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, and NIPSCO. Arts activities made possible, in part, with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, South Shore Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Dunes Learning Center provides year-round curriculum and standards-based experiential environmental education programs for learners of all ages. Programs inspire curiosity, scientific literacy, environmental stewardship and community involvement. Located within Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, the campus occupies 63 acres of rolling woodland at the southern tip of Lake Michigan and is located less than an hour from Chicago.

Dunes Learning Center is located at 700 Howe Road in Porter, IN between U.S. Highways 12 and 20 on the grounds of the historic Camp Good Fellow.
