Family Fun Fest Events at Biscayne National Park

HOMESTEAD, Fla. --- On Dec. 10, 2017, the park kicks off the 18th season of award winning Family Fun Fest events at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center. The events are free and take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of every month from December, 2017, through April, 2018.

Program activities include; games, science experiments, presentations, craft projects and an activity station for parents with toddlers. After completing five activities kids earn a specially designed button to help them remember the lessons learned. The “time flies!" season theme includes the following events:

* STEAM! Dec. 10, 2017 - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, a futuristic look at the past and a time-traveling steampunk theme. Steampunk costumes welcome!

* ¡Viva España! Jan. 14, 2018 - Florida was once part of Spain, twice! Take a closer look at the park’s amazing Spanish heritage and embrace your inner conquistador!

* Pirates & Wreckers, Feb. 11, 2018 - get the real story behind the park’s rough and tumble past, and grab your headscarves and eye-patches!

* Biscayne Renaissance, March 11, 2018 - the Sword in the Stone, Arthur, Lancelot, and Lords and Ladies galore. Dress to impress!

* Back to the 60s, April 8, 2018 - the park was established fifty years ago. Learn about the times that led to “Miami’s national park." Tie-dye and bell-bottoms encouraged!

Families are encouraged to dress according to event themes.

Free transportation from downtown Homestead is available on the Homestead National Parks Trolley.

Family Fun Fest is supported by the Guerra Family Foundation, ClubOne Athletics, Dr. Charles Palminteri, Catherine Grady’s Allstate Agency, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as part of its Knight Arts Challenge, the Bobby Duryea Fund at the South Florida National Parks Trust and Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserves.
