Flagstaff Monuments Close for Holiday

FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA- The Flagstaff Area National Monuments will close on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. The monuments will be closed all day on Dec. 25, 2017. We will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

Walnut Canyon will open at 9:00 am on Dec. 24, 2017. Access to the Island Trail will close at 2:00 pm and access to the Rim Trail will close at 2:30 pm to help ensure visitors are off the trails for a 3:00 pm closure.

Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki Visitor Centers will open at 9:00 am on Dec. 24, 2017 and close at 3:00 pm. Access to the trails at Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki are open to the public from dawn to dusk.

Walnut Canyon National Monument is located 7.5 miles east of downtown Flagstaff via I-40 and can be reached at (928)526-3367 and on the web at www.nps.gov/waca. Wupatki National Monument is 37 miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89, and can be reached at (928)679-2365 and www.nps.gov/wupa. Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is located 12 miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89 and can be reached at (928)526-0502 and www.nps.gov/sucr.

The Walnut Canyon entrance fee is $8.oo/person for visitors 16 and over. Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monument Entrance Fee is $20/vehicle. America the Beautiful Passes are honored and sold.
