TUPELO, MS: Spring wildflowers are blooming abundantly on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Join a park ranger to learn about plants and flowers that thrived at the Chickasaw Village Site when it was one of the largest Chickasaw settlements in Mississippi. Find out what plant life was brought in by others who migrated to this area. Join in speculation about the future of this national park site. The Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Please meet a few minutes early at the Chickasaw Village Site (milepost 261.8) pavilion on the Natchez Trace Parkway, just south of the McCullough Boulevard crossing in Tupelo, Mississippi.
This 1-hour program takes participants on an easy walk through both prairie and forest ecosystems. Visitors are encouraged to wear long pants and comfortable walking shoes, to bring insect repellent and sunscreen, and if it is hot, please carry water. Cameras are welcome.
