Land your kayak, take a hike, dock a boat- it may all be possible at a presidential memorial
McLean, Va. - What do you think about better restrooms, better hiking trails, better interpretative opportunities, and a floating dock at Theodore Roosevelt Island? These are just a few ideas we’d like you to consider and then share your thoughts between April 4 and May 3, 2018.
Come to an “open house" April 19, 2018, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m to learn more. The island is accessible by footbridge from northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway and the Mount Vernon Trail.
The National Park Service cares for Theodore Roosevelt Island, sometimes called TRI, a 88-acre park and memorial to President Theodore Roosevelt. TRI is a popular destination for bike riders along the Mount Vernon Trail and offers great hiking, bird watching and relative solitude in the nation’s capital.

In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act, the Theodore Roosevelt Island Cultural Landscape Report and Environmental Assessment document the important elements of this historic cultural landscape and recommend preservation treatments for the island's significant features while proposing and analyzing possible visitor services improvements.
