The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 6, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Ochopee - On Saturday, July 6, 2018, Zone 4 of the Stairsteps Unit within Big Cypress National Preserve will reopen to all public access by airboat. The temporary closure has been rescinded as surface water depths have been recorded at sufficient levels. The closure order was necessary for resource and visitor protection during periods of low water. All other closures remain in effect until rescinded by press release.
