War in the Pacific National Historical Park Prepares for Typhoon Mangkhut

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 9, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Please be advised a Typhoon Watch is now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. The island has been declared in Condition of Readiness 3 (COR 3). Typhoon conditions, including destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are possible by Monday.

The public is further advised once Condition of Readiness 2 (COR 2) is announced the War in the Pacific National Historical Park will close. Closures will include the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center, park restrooms, gates, and all facilities. In addition, all scheduled programs and reservations will be cancelled. The park will reopen when it is determined all is clear and safe.
