The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 14, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Flat Rock, NC -Due to Hurricane Florence, Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will be closed to the public beginning at 4pm Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. Entrance gates will be locked at that time. Park managers will monitor conditions and the park will re-open when it is safe to do so.

During a weather closure all park facilities, including the Sandburg home, goat barn, and trails, are closed to visitor and volunteer use. Updates on conditions, scheduled programs, and re-opening status will be posted on the park webpage at www.nps.gov/carl, on the park’s Facebook page, and via media advisories.
