The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 23, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

SCRANTON, Pa. - Steamtown National Historic Site recently recognized seven staff members whose combined federal service totals 195 years. Such longevity of staff with unique skill sets has helped the park meet its mission to preserve, interpret, and protect the history of steam railroading in America.

Staff receiving certificates and pins for thirty (30) years of government service, most of it performed at Steamtown NHS, are:

Robert Aten, Engineer Equipment Operator

John Bibalo, Preservation Specialist

Paula Brown, Administrative Program Specialist

Tina Golden, Facility Management Systems Specialist

Stephen Kulesa, Maintenance Mechanic

John Melliand, Preservation Specialist

One staff member received recognition for fifteen (15) years of government service:

Bruce Mowbray, Jr., Preservation Specialist

Steamtown NHS salutes such dedicated service to the park and to the National Park Service. All recognized employees work behind the scenes to help ensure that the visitor experience is the best that it can be. While they don’t wear the distinctive ranger flat hat and may not daily interact with park visitors, they are essential members of the Steam Team. Congratulations!

Located in downtown Scranton, Pa., Steamtown NHS is open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily. From I-81 follow exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway); then follow the brown and white signs to the park entrance at Lackawanna Avenue and Cliff Street (GPS: N 41.41, W 75.67). General park information is available by phoning (570) 340-5204 during regular business hours, or by visiting the park website anytime.
