BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening April 27- May 17.
Junior Ranger Day, April 27
Lake Mead National Recreation invites families to join rangers for the 13th annual Junior Ranger Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at the Lake Mead Visitor Center. Junior Ranger Day is held annually during National Park Week to inspire the nation’s youth to enjoy, learn about and protect natural resources.
This free event will offer fun, interactive stations with kids’ activities that focus on nature and water safety. Rangers will share information about career opportunities within the park service, and there will be K-9 demonstrations, as well.
Smokey Bear, Mojave Max and Coastie, the talking robot boat, will be on hand to add to the fun. When kids complete their activities, they will be sworn in as Junior Rangers and receive a Junior Ranger badge and certificate. In addition, all fourth graders will receive an Every Kid in a Park pass that grants them and three guests free admission to more than 2,000 federal public lands.
Get Outdoors Nevada Day at Spring Jamboree, May 4-5
Join rangers at Wilbur Square in Boulder City, Nevada, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 for Get Outdoors Nevada Day at Spring Jamboree. Participants will be able to learn about a variety of ways to recreate safely and how to plan an adventure on public lands. Magento Imagine 2019 Big Dam Run, May 12
Back again for 2019 is the 8th annual Magento Imagine Race. This year’s race is a 5k along the Historic Railroad and River Mountains Loop trails. For more information on this permitted event, visit https://www.bigdamrun.com/magento-imagine-2019-big-dam-run.html.
Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day, May 17
Wear your life jacket, snap a picture while at work and share on social media with the hashtags #lifejacket2work and #lakemead or #lakemohave. Hosted by the National Safe Boating Council, this annual event is a fun, educational way to heighten life jacket awareness and highlight the various styles just prior to National Safe Boating Week, May 18-24.
