BOULDER CITY, Nevada - Media are invited to capture exclusive Lake Mead National Recreation Area B-roll footage, photos and interviews before the busy Memorial Day weekend during the annual media ride-along 10 a.m. to noon May 23 at Las Vegas Boat Harbor.
Members of the media will receive a private on-the-water ride-along with a National Park Service ranger or Nevada Department of Wildlife game warden. Photographers will be assigned separate boats to ensure they receive unique video/photography opportunities and interviews.
Rangers and wardens will be on hand to discuss what they will be looking for this summer to ensure boater safety. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard-Auxiliary and National Weather Service are also scheduled to be available for interviews.
Over Memorial Day weekend, around 150,000 people traditionally visit the park. Therefore, unless there is an incident over the weekend, this will be the only opportunity to interview park officials for Memorial Day weekend stories.
Staging area
The Callville Bay Resort and Marina will stage a houseboat at Las Vegas Boat Harbor for media. The houseboat may be used to conduct interviews, file stories or freshen up before going on camera. Staff will also be available to provide information about houseboat and other boat rentals.
Media interested in a private ride-along need to respond to this advisory by noon May 22 at e-mail us or 702-283-2344, so staff can ensure enough boats are on hand.
