Recent cooler, wetter weather in Denali National Park and Preserve has moderated fire danger, and campfire restrictions are now lifted. Currently there are 184 wildfires burning across Alaska, including the Foraker Fire in Denali National Park. The Foraker Fire received significant precipitation over the weekend, however, portions of the fire are still active and firefighters are continuing monitoring efforts.
Although weather in the Denali area has decreased the potential for new fire starts, firefighting resources remain limited across Alaska and warm and dry conditions may quickly increase fire danger. Visitors are urged to use caution with campfires, camp stoves, and grills throughout the fire season. Residents and visitors to Denali should report suspected new wildfires promptly by calling 911 or 1-800-237-3633. Everyone has a part to play in a safe wildfire season.
