Fire Island National Seashore Recreational Driving and Hunting Permits Weekday Availability

Patchogue, New York - Fire Island National Seashore officials announced today that weekday issuance of recreational driving and hunting permits will be available at the Seashore's headquarters located at 120 Laurel Street, Patchogue New York, due to changes in operational hours of the Wilderness Visitor Center in Shirley, New York.

Effective Sunday, Nov. 10, the Wilderness Visitor Center will be open to the public on weekends only, from 9 am - 4 pm through June 2020. The Visitor Center will be closed Monday through Fridays and on all federal holidays.

Due to the weekday closure of the Wilderness Visitor Center, sportsman wishing to apply for over-sand recreational driving permits through Dec. 31, 2019, and/or waterfowl hunting permits through Jan. 31, 2020, may do so at Fire Island National Seashore Headquarters on weekdays (closed federal holidays) starting on Tuesday, Nov. 12, between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. Issuance of permits will continue to be available through the permit season on weekends at the Wilderness Visitor Center between 9 am and 4pm.
