As part of Arkansas Archeology Month, Hot Springs National Park is hosting "Archaeology Day at Hot Springs National Park" and we invite you to participate with us.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Arlington Lawn. We are partnering with the Arkadelphia Research Station of the Arkansas Archeological Survey, the Ouachita Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society, and Ouachita National Forest to bring information and broaden the public's interest and appreciation for Arkansas's archeological resources and to encourage the public's participation in conservation and preservation efforts.
Planned activities include:
- Arlington Hotel display
- Twine bracelet making
- Petroglyph and/or pictograph wall activity
- Trash box activity
- Penny analysis / Archeology laboratory activity
- Reconstructing vessels activity (on paper print-outs)
- Mini-sandbox excavation activity
- Chronology/ timeline activity
- Earn a Junior Ranger Archeology Badge
- Teaching collection displays
About Hot Springs National Park: Established as a federal reservation in 1832 to protect the unique geothermal spring water and associated lands for public health, wellness, and enjoyment.
