Pavement Repair Work at Carl Sandburg Home NHS to Begin April 14

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 13, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Pavement repair work on paved surfaces at Carl Sandburg Home NHS will begin on Tuesday, April 14. This work includes the main visitor parking lot, historic road leading up to the Sandburg Home, and park headquarters parking lots. The purpose of the project is to preserve park roads and parking areas by adding a thin overlay, chip seal, or micro surface. This type of work provides an economical and efficient means to maintain roads and extend their useful life. The project is in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration.

The public is reminded that Carl Sandburg Home NHS is completely closed to all park visitors, until further notice. The closure includes all grounds, trails, parking lots, restrooms, and other structures. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and will continue to provide park updates on our website, www.nps.gov/carl, and on Facebook.
