There will be no access to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail from Station Road Bridge Trailhead for the duration of the project. The parking lot will remain open and the restrooms will remain available. Through traffic on the Towpath and river use may be intermittently affected.
The closure is necessary for public safety, please respect all closures.
Visitors parking at the Station Road Bridge Trailhead are encouraged to visit Brecksville Reservation across Riverview Road. Other parking for Towpath access can be found at Canal Exploration Center or Boston Mill Visitor Center. An interactive map is available on the park website.
The Station Road Bridge is the oldest remaining metal truss bridge in the Cuyahoga Valley. The bridge bears the date 1882, but county records indicate it was likely built in 1881. The bridge was closed to vehicles in 1980, disassembled and shipped to Elmira NY for repair in 1991, and by 1992 the bridge was reassembled and opened for recreational use. The bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is once again being renovated to assure safety and recreation access for park visitors.
