INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK: A major restoration project is underway at Indiana Dunes National Park that will remove 25 structures and former roadbeds from areas though out the park. Work began September 16th and is scheduled for completion by April 30, 2021.

The objective of this contract, awarded for $1,382,385, is to remove developed sites that are no longer in use and return them to their original ground conditions. This project includes removing vacated structures, outbuildings, walkways, driveways, revetment walls, septic tanks, unused road segments, and abandonment of existing water wells. It also includes the removal of hazardous materials, such as storage tanks. Asphalt surfaces will be removed for all the roadways within this project and backfilled with sand or a similar, appropriate material.

Work locations include 13 sites in Gary, five sites in Michigan City, four in Chesterton, two in Beverly Shores and one in Porter, Indiana.
