Public Programs to Resume at National Park

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 4, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK: On May 8th, the National Park Service will resume offering a limited number of ranger-led public programs at Indiana Dunes National Park. All programs will be limited to 10 people and will require advance reservations. Wearing a mask will be required during programs because it is not possible to maintain six feet of social distancing at all times during the hikes.

Two Heron Rookery Wildflower Hikes will be offered on Saturday, May 8th. Enjoy the finest display of spring woodland wildflowers in the national park during this 1.5-hour hike with a ranger. Call 219-395-1882 to make a reservation for one of these free hikes. Program time will be confirmed during the reservation.

Join a ranger on every Sunday except May 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the Paul Douglas Center for a spectacular hike thorough Miller Woods. Explore one of the rarest habitats in the country, a Black oak savanna, on a two-hour ranger-led hike. Don’t miss the lupine blooming during the month of May. Call the Douglas Center at 219-395-1824 to reserve a spot and confirm the program’s time.
