Kula, Maui -The Haleakalā Highway in the Summit District of Haleakalā National Park will undergo a road improvement project beginning June 2 through Aug. 31, 2021. This project will take place Monday-Friday from 7 am to 5 pm. This will result in periodic single-lane traffic closures and temporary parking lot closures. Visitors are advised to plan their trip to park with extra travel time for possible delays. Roads will be fully open on Saturdays and Sundays.
Pavement preservation is needed to maintain and preserve roadways, and includes patchwork like fixing potholes, heaves and depressions. Some areas will be repaved and others will be treated with durable sealant.
