Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site is pleased to announce the selection of Beth Wasson as the new Lead Park Ranger for Interpretation. She will work closely with the Interpretive Supervisor, Seasonal Rangers, and interns to develop public programs, manage volunteers, and advance community outreach. "Beth brings a wealth of creativity and experience developing interpretive experiences to her new role at the Longfellow House," said Supervisory Park Ranger Emily Levine. "Her passion for complex history and the arts make her a wonderful addition to the team."
Wasson began her new role in early August. Originally from West Virginia, she started her career with the National Park Service in 2017 at Harper's Ferry National Historical Park. Most recently, Wasson worked as a Park Guide at the National Mall and Memorial Parks, where she was assigned to the Washington Monument, developed interactive family programming, and researched African American and LGBTQ+ history.
Wasson holds a BFA in Theatre Production with a minor in History from Marshall University, and an MAT in Museum Education from George Washington University. She is passionate about working to ensure that our public spaces, including historic houses, are welcoming and accessible to all. Wasson lives with her 6 year old Boxer mix, Chewbacca, and enjoys roller skating, hiking, video games, gardening, theme parks, and all things Halloween.
