January 2022 VC closures

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 29, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Beginning Sunday, Jan. 2, visitors to the NHS can expect these temporary changes for the month of January 2022:

* The visitor center will be closed to the public on Sundays during the month of January (Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30), but the visitor center will be open to the public from Mondays through Saturdays in January (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST) with limited services.

** Visitor access to park exhibits, restrooms and the bookstore will be unavailable on Sundays in January 2022.

** Ranger-led tours and other public programming will be unavailable on Sundays in January 2022. To make reservations for ranger-led tours on other dates in January, visit the park website for assistance: www.nps.gov/chsc/planyourvisit/guidedtours.htm.

Outdoor spaces at Little Rock Central High School NHS will remain open to the public including the Commemorative Garden and the Elizabeth Eckford Commemorative Bench.

While access to the visitor center and to park programming will be affected during January 2022, plans are underway to return to normal operations and programming as soon as possible. Updates on park operations will be posted on the park's official website (www.nps.gov/chsc) and social media channels.
