Obed WSR Park Rangers Recover Body Below Cliff Within Park Boundaries

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, a visitor reported their companion missing while in the park. After a search, park rangers found the body of a female 23-year-old Knoxville resident at the bottom of a 120-foot cliff within Obed Wild & Scenic River boundaries.

Obed Wild & Scenic River, Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted in the search.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted. No additional information is available at this time.
