Foxx Slams Biden’s Family Glitch Rule That Will Cost More Than $33 Billion

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on Oct. 11. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement in response to the Biden administration’s final “family glitch" rule:

“Today, the Biden administration doubled down on its action to spend billions of taxpayer dollars illegally to expand Obamacare unilaterally. No previous presidential administration, including the Obama administration, ever found legal justification to change the affordability test of employer-sponsored insurance by basing affordability on the cost of family coverage instead of individual coverage. Undeterred, President Biden is doing what he does best: skirting the law to push his own agenda.

“As usual, the Biden administration is doing everything in its power to push every American onto Obamacare. Weakening the barrier between employer-sponsored insurance and Affordable Care Act plans moves this country one step closer to Medicare-for-All. This gambit will cost taxpayers more than $33 billion over 10 years. Apparently, Biden wants to breathe new life into Obamacare, his former boss’s showpiece, regardless of the cost to taxpayers."
