NIFA has invested $1.8 million in one project as part of the Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) to fund research that uses transdisciplinary approaches involving engineering, genetics, remote sensing, data science and allied fields to improve crop and animal performance in production environments. This award funds a seed grant program — to be coordinated through Iowa State University, the University of Nebraska and the University of Idaho — that will stimulate innovation and expand knowledge concerning genomes and phenomes of importance to the agriculture sector of the United States.
