Rodgers Announces Sean Brebbia as Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chief Counsel

Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today announced that Sean Brebbia has joined her senior leadership team on the Energy and Commerce Committee as the Chief Counsel of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sean to the team,” said Rodgers. “He has an extensive oversight background and valued expertise, which is critical to our work on Energy and Commerce as Republicans prepare for the next Congress. We have a full agenda to hold President Biden and his administration officials accountable for how they’ve shut down American energy, broken trust at America’s public health agencies, made the fentanyl crisis worse, and increased our dependence on supply chains controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, and much more. Sean will work closely across all our subcommittees to ensure our oversight work informs our policy priorities that will put America on a stronger path to win the future and restore people’s quality of life.”

Sean Brebbia joins the Committee from Denton’s Global Advisors. From 2015-2019, he previously served as Senior Counsel on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2015 to 2019, serving on both the Full Committee and the IT Subcommittee chaired by Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX). While on the Oversight Committee, Sean was lead counsel for investigations, hearings, policy and legislation focused on government use of technology, emerging technologies, privacy, modernization of government technology, law enforcement in the digital age, cybersecurity in the public and private sector, election security, civil liberties, and technology workforce issues. Sean served as the Deputy General Counsel for Special Projects at the Department of Commerce from 2019 to 2021. Sean was the Oversight and Investigations Counsel for the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, for Ranking Member Pat Toomey (R-PA) from January 2021 to April 2022. Sean is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the law review. Prior to working in the legislative and executive branches, Sean was a trial attorney with the Public Defender Service for District of Columbia.
