Department of Energy Issues Requests for Applications for Nuclear Science and Engineering Scholarships and Fellowships

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced two new Requests for Applications (RFA) that will fund scholarships and fellowships for nuclear science and engineering students.

The Department expects to award $5 million for approximately 70 undergraduate scholarships and 30 graduate fellowships to U.S. students and permanent residents through its Nuclear Energy University Programs (NEUP) RFAs.

Undergraduate scholarships are $5,000 for one year. The maximum award for fellowships is anticipated to be $50,000 a year over three years, with an additional one time $5,000 allotment to fund a 10 week minimum internship at a DOE national laboratory or other designated facility.

Applications for the Scholarship and Fellowship RFAs are due on Feb. 16, 2011, and must be submitted throughwww.neup.gov to be considered for award.
