The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Tying Energy Efficiency to Compensation and Performance Reviews" on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will share details from the successful initiatives that Better Buildings Challenge Partners Alcoa, HEI Hotels, and TIAA-CREF have in place to reward employees for meeting energy efficiency goals. Organizations with building portfolios can learn how partners implemented sustainability performance scorecards, energy-focused recognition events, incentive compensation, and other methods to encourage energy use reductions in their facilities. The webinar presenters include Walt Brockway of Alcoa, Bob Holesko of HEI Hotels and Nick Stolatis of TIAA-CREF Financial Services.

September 10: Live Webcast on Clean Energy Advances

The Energy Department, in partnership with the Battelle Commercialization Council, will present a live webcast titled "Accelerating Innovation: Energy Systems Advances" on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webcast will highlight several National Renewable Energy Laboratory technologies, including white light LEDs, energy systems integration, and the R&D 100 Award-winning image processing occupancy sensor. These technologies can also be viewed online at EERE's Innovation Portal. Following the presentations, attendees will be invited to participate in a live question-and-answer session with the researchers.

Val Stori from the Clean Energy States Alliance will provide an overview of the Interstate Turbine Advisory Council, and Brent Summerville from the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC) will discuss the SWCC and the role of standards in the small wind industry.

The Energy Department presented a live webinar titled "Hydrogen Compatibility of Materials" on Tuesday, August 13. The webinar describes hydrogen embrittlement and its impact on hydrogen distribution and storage. In particular, the webinar examines the challenges and existing guidance for selecting structural materials for hydrogen service. During the webinar, speakers from the Energy Department's Sandia National Laboratory review the "Technical Reference for Hydrogen Compatibility of Materials, " an important tool for identifying promising materials for hydrogen service and summarizing hydrogen compatibility data, as well as discovering gaps in available materials data and standards for qualifying materials for hydrogen service.
