The following press release was published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy, Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs on Feb. 17, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

With the help of a U.S. Department of Energy grant and in partnership with the Clallam County Public Utility District, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe is saving money on their utility bills after installing ductless heat pumps in 42 tribal members’ homes. Nearly 30% of the Tribe is now heating and cooling their homes with the ductless heat pumps, and the savings has spurred additional action from the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Council, which is funding the installation of 15 more pumps.
